WHAT IS GENERATION R
Almost everyone has heard of 'Generation X', the blanket term used to describe people under 30. Generation X has been considered to be the lost generation, apathetic generation, and hopeless generation caught between the affluent 'baby boomers' and an uncertain, rapidly changing world.
This perception of Generation X is bleak and pessimistic, however, many Young Reformers defy this stereotype. We are concerned about the future, and we are making a difference. We are hopeful, innovative, determined, politically active and socially conscious, and we are principled. We have played and continue to play a vital role in the Reform Party's success.
Young Reformers have run as candidates, some have become M.P.'s, others helped with campaigns, participated in fund raising activities, knocked on doors, helped develop policies and sat as executive officers on our constituency' Board of Directors. The energy, enthusiasm and momentum we have contributed continue to grow as Young Reformers are continuing to make a difference. Some of us work with our riding associations' Boards; many are active in campus clubs, and some even work as assistants for our Reform MPs in Ottawa.
Young Reformers are much different than the maligned term Generation X assumes. This is why we consider Young Reformers as Generation R.
The "R" in Generation R represents Reform's philosophies such as reform, responsibility, renew, rebuild, reasonable, responsible, responsive, realistic and ready.
We are the 'R' in Generation R.
We are the next generation, the new generation, most importantly the generation to make a difference. By continuing to support the Reform Party and actively, democratically participating in government, we will contribute to the creation of a drastically reduced federal debt. We commit ourselves to making equality of all citizens a nation-wide reality. We will help make this country a better place in which to live and work for everyone.
Generation R is the future of Canada. Our actions today will help build a better tomorrow for all Canadians.
YOUNG REFORMERS
Young Reformers is a blanket term sometimes used to describe individuals who are under 35 and/or students who are members of the Reform Party. The term Young Reformers can also be used to apply to individuals who promote youth participation in the Party. The Young Reformers group is not a separate organization. Like all Party members, they are responsible to their constituency associations and campus clubs (if applicable), and represent Reform Party principles and the Party's reputation.
Unlike other political parties, Reform neither has a youth wing nor does it grant special status to younger members of the party. Young Reformers are encouraged to participate in their Reform Party constituency associations to help achieve our goal of forming the next federal government.
